Upcoming Dress A Girl Event

Angels of Mercy's next Dress A Girl is

Tuesday, November 27th from 3-8 pm at St. Cecilia's, 2732 Culver Rd.
Please bring your sewing machines, scissors and friends to join us!  We are in need of: Pillowcases, fabric and bias tape.  Thank you for your continued support!
We have 2 Bias Tape Makers that are new and ready to be put to GOOD USE!
We desperately need bias tape and if anyone is willing to make bias tape for our events, please call Josie Gangarossa at 730-4556.  She has the machines.
Our goal is to have enough kits ready for each event.
Thank you if you would like to cut dresses in advance and then match pockets on the 27th and then get the bias tape ready for them.
May you have a Blessed Thanksgiving!
Love,
Mary Jo

Girl Scout Troop # 60683

Here's a note I received from a wonderful lady today...

Hi Mary Jo!

Just a quick update. The clothing flyer I brought from home went to my PCP - she's a Girl Scout leader & DAG/Clothing Drive sounds very interesting to fulfill the Community Service Badge. She likes the idea of: (1) a focus on girls around the world their own age  (2) exposing the girls to areas of sewing/crafting  (3) she liked the idea of DAG attendance @ St Cecelia's to help them find an area of interest that they might not have anywhere else (I.E. doll making, cutting out, organizing trims, etc  (4) placing the girls around women, who will readily mentor/encourage the girls in sewing, in social skills, etc if needed.  Some of the Girl Scouts have already made pillowcase dresses, through their church. I gave your cell number to Dr Lara Evans, for further details.
I spent yesterday afternoon with Girl Scout Troop # 60683 making Prayer Dolls (Each Girl Scout leader gladly welcomed the Clothing Drive flyer!). The 10 girls in attendance were excited to make the dolls & a few Girl Scouts made 2 dolls! One older girl asked to take her doll home, so she could make the dress that her doll would accompany. WOW!!!!

The girls in Troop 60683 looked rather sad @ the end of the meeting & one little 10 year old was in tears. It dawned on me that the girls would want to take the dolls home & proudly share their creation with family. So I asked that if they wanted to, please take the dolls home to explain to family what their meeting was all about  - they will bring the dolls on Oct 23 DAG meeting. The girls will probably bring home made cookies to share for the pot luck meal. Attached are pictures of some of the girls with their dolls.
Donna

P.S. I was amazed @ how well behaved these girls were! No screams, not loud yelling, no bickering - just intensely focused young ladies! One doll looks like a little girl from Norway!

We Can Do This!

It is just amazing how everyone is SEWING UP A STORM...by the Grace of God we are making the 10,000 dress goal for Cambodia.  As of today...8,784 dresses have been sent to Joe Parker for the OM SHIP.

We only need 1216 MORE!!!!

THIS IS "SEW"  EXCITING....I just love a good challenge!

MY QUESTION TO ALL...
DO you have any finished dresses????

IF so....please email me(or call) and I will set a time to meet you.  THE LAST SHIPMENT will go out Monday August 2oth.  THEN the remainder will accompany the Mission Team when they leave.

No need to wait for Dress A Girl on 8/28 to bring in your dresses...we need them now...and of course then, too....as more missionaries will leave within the next month or so.  BUT TO MAKE THIS CHALLENGE....I thank everyone of you for being who you are and for doing all you do!!!

Love,
Mary Jo, NYS DAG REP

Happy Birthday DAG Rochester

Today celebrates Rochester's DAG 2nd Birthday!
  • Remember 2 years ago, you were simply trusting God for 100 completed dresses in a one night event?  But yet God provided180 pillowcase dresses!!!
  • Because the passion for DAG just wouldn't let them quit, do you remember you had to think fast when  the volunteers requested an additional work day?   And then the additional work day evolved into regular monthly meetings?
  • The robust pot luck dinner enjoyed by all volunteers,  evolved from the light snacks that used to be available!
  • The masses of individual women who showed up to answer the call for pillowcase dresses, quickly formed  friendships that continues to grow deeper each day, with reciprocating blessings!
  •  Now, Rochester's passionate commitment to DAG  has led to the tremendous opportunity  to personally deliver 10,000 dresses to the Cambodian countryside!  WHAT A BLESSING!!!!!
  • Look at how God touched your heart to provide 100 dresses for DAG & where it is leading us now? It's exciting to think of the  next step God is leading DAG!

Just a Reminder that DRESS A GIRL is this Tuesday, JULY 24th at St. Cecilia's from 3-8 pm.

Thank you and have a Blessed day!
